GEORG ROESSLER (1861-1925) - PORTRAIT OF TYROLEAN PEASANT WITH PIPE. This original oil painting by Goerg Roessler is in very good condition, with its original frame intact. The actual painting measures 9" x 7", the overall size is 17" x 19.5". There is one tiny chip on the front of the frame, apart from that it is perfect.

Georg Roessler is a well listed and highly collected artist whose pictures have sold at auction in the 1990's from $1,500 - $4,000 . This painting is well priced and it seems to be the same painting sold by Dr. Fritz Nagel's auction house in Germany in 1993, for US$4,000, though as we have no picture from catalogues we cannot guarantee this.

Roessler specialized in scenes and portraits from the Austrian, Italian and German alps. The detail in his paintings is very impressive as is his use of a limited and sumptous pallette. All in all, a lovely painting well worth the asking price. More images here 1/ 2

TWO PORTRAITS BY Achille PETROCELLI (1861-1929) These two portraits depict a typical subject for this heavily listed artist, Achille Petrocelli. Petrocelli was born in Naples and painted in the Neopolitan school. His father Vincenzo Petrocelli, also an artist, trained him in drawing in his early days and he then continued his education at L'Istituto di Belle Arti di Napoli, where he studied landscape painting with Gabriele Smargiassi and Achille Carrillo. After his training he focused of portrait art as his genre and exhibited with "Salvator Rosa" group in Naples between 1877 and 1896.

These oil on canvas paintings have been professionally relined and are offered unframed. The patchy appearance of some of the images is due to varnish reflection and is not on the images. Each image measures 13.5" x 18" each and a generous overhang of canvas has been allowed for to keep your framer happy! buynow23More images here: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4
